Women's Bible Study
In the Fall from 9:30 to 11:30 AM
“Strength and honour [are] her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” Proverbs 31:25. We, as the women of our church, strive to honor the Lord and rejoice him in our own way. To do so, we must also learn more about our Redeemer for his lessons are endless! In the spring and fall, on Friday mornings at 9:30, we meet to not only fellowship with other women, but to also honor our God by growing our knowledge of him and faith in him. There will be information in the bulletin about upcoming lessons. Our door is always open to you.

Vivian Brown Class
Every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM
In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus. Then, give me a wonderful group of women to praise him with! We have just that here at First Church! Every Sunday morning this class meets, and every Sunday morning there is a new lesson to learn. We enjoy each other’s company and fellowship with good Christian discussion, and, of course, good food! All ladies are welcome!

Growing Adult Class
Every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM
In life, there are many truths. It is true that God loves us. It is true that he wants us to seek him. It is also true that we, in our human way, forget that growth doesn’t end when we are no longer a child. In the same way, spiritual growth does not end the moment we give our lives over to the Lord. We continue to learn. In the Social Hall of the church, our class meets to continue rounding ourselves as Christians through Old and New Testament study. Life is all about always learning. Come and learn and grow with us!

Junior/Senior High Class
Sunday Mornings During the Academic School Year at 9:30 AM
It’s quite true that, in today’s world, one of the hardest things to be is young. Looking back at your youth, you may think “That was the easiest time of my life.” That may have been true then, but now, it is different. Young people today are bombarded with so many opinions, so many decisions, and so many temptations. This is why during the academic School Year on Sunday mornings at 9:30 on the second floor, Junior and Senior High students are welcome to come together to learn about how Christ faced adverse situations as well. This class is a place for personal and spiritual growth, a friendly place where the youth of our community can develop a relationship with the Lord, our safe haven. Come and join us!

.
Library Class
Every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM
There is no such thing as needing God only in our youth or in our wiser days. We recognize that each moment, each day, each year of our lives, we need Jesus. We also recognize that in this journey, we can and should lean on each other to grow our faith together. This is why we have a class, full of people of all ages, that meets in our church library, just outside the rear entrance of the sanctuary, where we study from all parts of the Bible and share with each other about how we see God working in our lives. It is a class full of prayer and fellowship to help us start the week on the right foot! Come and let us grow closer to God together!

Missions Outreach Program
The Missions committee meets quarterly
Do you remember how Jesus was nailed to a cross on Good Friday? Do you remember how afraid he was when he learned that it was his only choice? But do you remember how his absolute love for us conquered his fear and he surely wore that crown of thorns? A love like that is overwhelming, a love that cannot be repaid. But what we can do to please the Lord, to worship and thank him, is to give so much love to other people. At First Church, our mission is to spread our love to our neighbors, to our country, and across God’s green earth. Heifer International, Guatemala Support, Local Diaper Drives and Operation Christmas Child, are only a few of the national and local projects we have supported. For more information on how you can spread Christ’s love, contact the church office at 814-371-5150.

FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving Day
There is nothing more comforting and more nostalgic than the smell of a turkey in the oven and stuffing on the table on the day of Thanksgiving. Of course, it stirs feelings of hunger, but it also brings about the feelings of companionship and love when you share the meal with others. Everyone deserves to feel that on the day of thankfulness. On Thanksgiving Day, First Church opens its doors to anyone and everyone interested in a FREE dinner with much fellowship! A home cooked meal is what you deserve and we have that and so much love for you as well!

FREE Soup Supper Community Outreach Dinner
Every Wednesday at 5 PM in the church Social Hall
“God is great, God is good, let us thank him for our food. By his hand, we all are fed, thank you Lord for Daily Bread.” As Methodists, we understand the importance of food. But all joking aside, we know that God promised that he will always provide for his children. At First Church, we hope to be his hands, working for him to reach everyone in our community through food and fellowship. Every Wednesday evening in our Social Hall we share in devotions at 4:45 and we follow that with a free homemade soup dinner. Our doors are always open to patrons and volunteers alike!

Prayer Chains at First Church
Always, without ceasing!
The power of prayer surpasses all understanding and here at First Church we believe in standing firmly on that power. We have seen God work in our church through prayer and there are endless opportunities for it. We have two prayer chains in operation; one set up as a Telephone Prayer Chain twice a day, (the telephone numbers and times are in the bulletin each Sunday) and a prayer chain updated daily: fumcdubois@gmail.com for all who wish to join. All requests received will go out on the One Call Now system that contacts the Prayer Group by their personal preference of receipt, e-mail, phone or text. Call the church office at 371-5150 for information.

Other Prayer Opportunites

First Church Chancel Choir
Every Thursday at 7 PM
Here at First Church, we are blessed with a choir that worships the Lord through song. Their voices soar in our sanctuary and fill each of us with such emotion. They can excite us, humble us, set us at peace, and bring us to tears with each note. They are a true blessing that we thank God for.

In an ever changing world with all the turmoil and things happening all around us, we at First United Methodist Church want to offer a safe environment for everyone that enters our facility. We have established a team for your safety and medical needs if they would arise. We use a locked door policy and follow our Safe Sanctuary policies with background checks for staff, leaders, and volunteers. We also have surveillance cameras located within the facility in these efforts. When you come into our facility we want to offer the safest environment we are able to for your protection and comfort.
